Emma Snow: The First NHS: How John Tomley’s Work Led to Modern Healthcare
Friday 18 October, Town Hall, Montgomery at 7pm.
John Tomley lived in Montgomery his whole life. He was a solicitor with a keen interest in photography and sport, but he was also instrumental in friendly societies that developed models for social and medical care that were adopted for the welfare state and the National Health Service following the end of the Second World War. Emma, who is his great granddaughter, describes his life and huge contribution he made to the health of the nation.
Copies of her book will be available at the event.
Tickets are £7 and are available at the door.
