Montgomery Castle

Built by Henry III after a visit to the area in 1223, the castle occupies a position described by one of Henry’s advisors as ‘suitable for the erection of an impregnable castle’. Our exhibition displays material recovered during excavation and consolidation work carried out in the 1980s and 1990s.
